Dr. Daniel Sutherland
Adjunct Professor, College of Professional Studies

Daniel W. Sutherland is an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University's College of Professional Studies, where he has taught Cybersecurity Law and Policy for more than a decade. He also advises organizations on technology risk, cybersecurity governance, AI governance, regulatory compliance, supply chain security, and executive risk communication through The Chertoff Group and Dunlap, Bennett & Ludwig.

Previously, Sutherland led Meta's cybersecurity legal team and served as the first Chief Counsel of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where he helped shape major cybersecurity legislation and supported the federal response to significant cyber incidents, including SolarWinds, ransomware threats, election security risks, and the OPM breach.
